Beta Log

This week has been the most difficult to find the time I need, to build a Beta.

The plan is to modify the current game to incorporate a choose your own adventure style option. During meetings with my tutors, we have discussed what the game needs and does not. The jumping mechanic to gain items in the real world, although excellent fun for my game testing students and children, does not add to my game. The real game is about escaping reality through music and then having to find the demons, monsters of the underworld due to this choice or opt out of all reality's choices, food, family and learning and loose energy - and eventually die.  It is not as simple as finding a key and going home in Hell, you need to visit Heaven to get home. The idea is about reconnecting with what you love and seeing a purpose in the world... family and friends. To make this connection - viewing and finding a photo is necessary and only the Angels can guide you in this quest.

The Tutorial I used for Bolt Scripting has given me the ability to be more fluent in code and as it is visual it has allowed success with level building, menus and start and quit functionality. Obsolete code  did cost some time early in the build and required assistance from my tutor to solve the functions I required and wanted in my game.  As  I am a teacher, Bolt Scripting is like Blueprint of Unreal, and this technical understanding will help me teach others who need easy coding options for Game Development.

Art has been incredible time consuming, and as I knew I had to create marketing material, I prioritised  Art this week.

There are some minor issues with the jump functionality and the placement of my platforms. There are also a few aesthetic issues with foliage that does not detract from the game and I have yet to fix.

As I am making this game predominantly alone, the workload is greater but the issues that come from group dynamics is not an issue.
